Evans arrived at Fort Campbell, KY in 1967 and was assigned to 3rd Platoon. He went with A Company to Vietnam, December 1967. SGT Ernest Evans died July 20, 1968 in Thua Thien, South Vietnam due to hostile fire. Read account of July 20 here. |

OBITUARY -I couldn't find an
obituary but I did find this: Ernest was the son of Mr. and Mrs. McNeil Evans. Sgt Evans was in the Army Selective Service. He began his Vietnam tour on Dec 13, 1967 and was attached to the 101st Airborne Division, 2nd Battalion, 501st Infantry Regiment, Company A. Sgt Evans and 3 other soldiers died during an unspecified engagement. They encountered hostile forces. |
