EUGENE HALUS |
Eugene Halus arrived at Fort Campbell, KY in 1967 and was assigned to A/2-501 IN, Weapons platoon. He deployed with A/2-501 IN to Vietnam, December 1967. Eugene Halus was one of A/2-501 IN first wounded. Sadly, Eugene passed 6 Nov 2015. |
Eugene was on our "Lost Avenger" list as a Brother we lost contact with. I remember reading the following 2015 message in our Guestbook when I updated it, from Eugene's son: |
"Good morning, I am the son of Alpha Avenger Eugene Halus. I wanted to make you
aware that he now resides in Florida. His exact location is not entirely known
to me as he recently moved. He continues to have problems with the combat wounds
he sustained in Vietnam, and does not really have a relationship with his
children. I am his oldest son from his first marriage. Should you have any
further questions I can be reached at 215-429-5788 or 334 Fell Lane,
Schwenksville, PA 19473. Best, Dr. Eugene J. Halus, Jr." |

OBITUARY |
Halus, Eugene died on November 5, 2015 at the age of 70 at his
residence in West Melbourne, Florida. Born August 12, 1945 in
Bischofshofen Austria, he immigrated with his parents and four siblings
to America in 1951. They lived first in Jacksonville, Texas and then
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After graduating from Germantown High School
in Philadelphia, Eugene enlisted in the US Army, serving two tours of
duty in Vietnam as a Special Forces combatant. Severely wounded in battle (for which he was awarded the Purple Heart) he suffered lifelong debilitating medical challenges. Eugene married and settled in Womelsdorf, Pennsylvania where he raised five children, all of whom survive him now with children of their own. Eventually he remarried and retired to Florida, where he spent his remaining years with wife Christine Halus. His three sisters, Stephanie Tashjian, Erika Edmonds, Felicia Dragota, and brother Siegfried Halus survive him. His great passion was deep-sea fishing, swimming and lying at the ocean's edge where he found real solace. He had a highly developed warrior nature, continually struggling against injustices and helping those in need, and he will be heartily missed. |
