Frederick Beard

Beard arrived at Fort Campbell, KY in 1967 and was assigned to A/2/501st. He went with A Company to Vietnam, December 1967. Frederic is no longer with us.

OBITUARY

An Elmwood man was electrocuted yesterday while completing a wiring job atop a utility pole at the intersection of Cottage and College streets in Normal. Fred R. Beard, 26, of Elmwood died yesterday at Brokaw Hospital. He was a lineman for West Central Utility Co. of Peoria Heights. Beard was born in Waterloo, Iowa, Oct. 1, 1947, the son of Wayne and Florence Cirksena Beard. He married Lucinda Johnston in Elmwood on April 20, 1974. Surviving are his wife; his parents; one grandmother, Minnie Winona Cirksena of Waterloo, Iowa; three brothers, Larry of Elmwood, Bill of rural Atkinson and Gary of Ft. Campbell, Ky., and one sister, Mrs. Jack (Carol) Moss of Washington.

He served in Vietnam as a U.S. Army paratrooper.
