JAMES LEO (JIM) LANE
Jim was in the 2nd platoon in 1971-1972. Jim and Bettye
lived in Caneyville, KY. Jim Lane’s son Thomas messaged Jimmy Williams on Facebook on April 11, 2023 and informed him that Jim had died of an apparent heart attack. Thomas lived on the same property and Bettye called him that Jim wasn’t well. (Bettye is in early stages of dementia)Thomas rushed over but Jim had slipped into semi-consciousness. EMTs came CPR etc. performed but he was gone. Jim had a pace maker and Thomas mentioned that Jim had mentioned that the batteries were due to be replaced soon. Jim was also diabetic. |

James “Jim” Leo Lane, age 71, of Caneyville, KY, passed away
Tuesday, (April 11, 2023). He was born on December 11, 1951 in Hardinsburg, KY, the son of the late Claude Edward and Mary Alexander Lane. He was an Army Veteran and retired civilian contractor who also worked for the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office for more than 40 years. He was a devoted family man who enjoyed grilling out, collecting guns, shooting, hunting, reading and spending time with his grandchildren. He attended the First Baptist Church of Leitchfield. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Bettye Kelly Lane of Caneyville; two sons, Chris Lane (Erendida) of Fisherville, KY and Thomas Lane (Leeanna Adkins) of Caneyville; seven grandchildren, Sophia, Parker, Maci, Mason, Weston, Lauren & Emsley; two brothers, Bob Lane (Patricia) and Bill Lane, both of Hardinsburg; and a sister, Mary Edward Henning (Larry) also of Hardinsburg. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Ray Roach. In keeping with his wishes, cremation was chosen and a Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, (April 16, 2023) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Doug King will be officiating. Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. Sunday until time of services. |
