OBITUARY Richard A. “Dick” Takos, age 73, of Shelby, passed away comfortably Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at OhioHealth Shelby Hospital after a short illness. Dick was born September 29, 1944 in Shelby to the late Michael J. and Eleanor (Heiland) Takos. He was a 1962 graduate of Shelby High School and a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Vietnam War earning both a Bronze Star, Silver Star, and Purple Heart. Dick had several jobs throughout his working career, including: Shelby Gum Company, AMF, Quanex which became TechForm Industries, Nelson’s Ice which became Home City Ice, and Sommer Generator. He was also the owner/operator of Takos-Inn. Dick loved everything outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, mushroom hunting, gardening, camping, and boating, just to name a few. He was constantly doing remodeling projects and tinkering around the house and was a fan of the Cleveland Browns. He loved his dogs, especially Daisy. Dick was a family man and was an especially good husband, father, and grandfather. Surviving Dick are his wife, Louella (Stout) Takos, whom he wed on April 30, 1985; 4 children: Annette (Jeff) Campbell of Willard, Bryan (Laura) Takos of Lexington, Renae (Thomas) Stoops of Florida, and Derek (Jennifer) Bailey of Mentor; 11 grandchildren: Amber Endicott, Brock Keaton, Gage Keaton, Megan Takos, Lauren Takos, Alyssa Takos, Joshua Armstrong, David Armstrong; Tristan Bailey, Jessalyn Bailey, and Carson Bailey; a brother: Vincent Takos; a sister: Diane Lewis; a brother-in-law whom he raised as a son: John Stout; a sister-in-law: Donna Takos; a brother-in-law: George Thomas Stout; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother: Kenneth Takos; a brother-in-law: Wayne Lewis; and a sister-in-law: Doris Takos. |
