When I joined A Company I had to send him back to the rear twice because of jungle rot. He could barely walk because of jungle rot between his legs.

Millard Sims said, "Remember him well". Definitely had a lot of bad luck he definitely didn’t need to be in the bush.

Leon Wozniak noted:

Tom was a real quiet guy. But he was quite the leech magnet. He also had cellulitis in one of his hands. It was so bad that his hand looked like a balloon. He was sent to the rear where Doctors cut him between all his fingers to squeeze out the puss. Tom definitely suffered more then usual.
