OBITUARY Alfred was living in Washington, DC with his parents when he enlisted in the Army. Arriving in Vietnam 20 December 1967,he was assigned to A Company,2nd Battalion,501st Infantry,101st Airborne Division, USARV. The company was on a patrol 35 kilometers north west of Hue, when A Company encountered enemy forces. The Army lost 11 soldiers in the fighting. Alfred died as a result gunshot wounds to the body from hostile rifle fire. Survived by his parents, Mr & Mrs. Alfred D Smith Sr. of 3745 Fourth St,SE,Washington,DC. |
