CHARLES S QUASH


Quash arrived at Fort Campbell, KY, from the 82nd Airborne, in 1967 and was assigned to Weapons Platoon. He went with A Company to Vietnam, December 1967. Quash won 3 Purple Hearts and they had to order him out of combat.
Quash retired from the U. S. Army as a First Sergeant E-8. Charles is no longer with us.

 


MEDALS AND AWARDS

Purple Heart, with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters - earned the Purple Heart for military merit and for  wound received during action in combat. (HQ, 101st ABN DIV; General Order Number 230)
Air Medal -  earned the Air Medal for meritorious achievement while participating in aerial flight  in the Republic of Vietnam. (HQ, 101st Airborne Division; General Order Number 7861; 29 June  1969)

OBITUARY

Richmond Times Dispatch: Charles Samuel Quash, MSgt. (Ret.), 66, of Newport News, VA, formerly of Caroline County, VA, departed this life June 1, 2009. He was a retired Master Sergeant for the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 40 years, Mattie; one son, Bernard (Lynn); two daughters, Tonya and Takesha Quash; and three grandchildren, Benita, Bertrice and Bernadette; brothers, Henry (Mary), Anthony (Louevenia), Stanley (Connie), Bryan, Sherman, Raymond (Ruth); sisters, Alma, Mary Burruss (Robert) and Cynthia; mother-in-law, Jessie Mickel of Bishopville, SC; brothers-in-law, Richard of Bronx, NY, Jimmy (Bertha), Freddie, Henry (Diane); sister-in-law, Mary Benn (Thomas) of Queens, NY; and a host of nieces, nephews and dear friends. He will be greatly missed by all.
